The Power of a Photo
As our world of communication begins to switch almost completely to the web, the power of a photo has never been more evident. In the “good old days” when you met someone it included eye to eye contact and usually a handshake. Not anymore. I have met hundreds of people recently through means of the web, and since a handshake is not available the next best thing, is a photo.
When building on line relationships pictures are the fastest way to connect and make a lasting impression. Connections aren’t made as quickly or as deep with a symbol. Is this concept important within the Dwellgo community? Absolutely! If not much more than other communities. Dwellgo is a community where transactions occur. And not small transactions either, but houses…
Needless to say, if you are a Buyer on Dwellgo you know full the impact photos have on your interest in a property, but you may not think having your picture on your profile is necessary. But in fact, your lack of photo could hurt you tremendously. Think of this way for example, if you are one person out of 5 trying to buy someones car off of Craig’s List and you are the only one who meets the owner in person, you are more likely to complete the transaction than the others. Why? Because even though you and the owner didn’t build a relationship, the owner felt more secure selling the car to you, rather than complete strangers he has never SEEN. The truth is we put more trust, and have more comfort in things we see, rather than a vague profile saying, “I’m interested…”
Also, when you are on Dwellgo’s home page and you see the two columns of featured buyers and featured properties; only the Buyer profiles with pictures will ever be featured on the home page. Not having a photo simply puts you further back in search criteria.
Now on to people selling there property through Dwellgo. Would you buy a sweater without ever seeing it? Or a car without ever test driving it? Of course not. So why create a Property Profile without adding photos? The chances of Dwellgo buyers clicking on your property are slim to none without photos. No matter how wonderfully detailed your profile may be, we are visual creatures and are very unlikely to show true interest in something without seeing it. Also words don’t usually create lasting memories as well as pictures. Just think of the last movie you saw. You probably can’t remember all the dialogue but you can most likely remember scenes.
I hope this post has helped you realize the mass importance of putting photos on all profiles whether Buyer or Property. Dwellgo has recently made this easier for users as well by putting a step to add photos right into the process of creating a profile, but if any step still confuses you, please feel free to contact us.
Take Care,
